The Teachings of Babaji
The words gathered here come to us through devotees who sat with him, listened, and carried his teachings forward in their hearts and in writing, translated from Hindi, passed through memory, shaped by love.
We offer them in that same spirit. As living invitations, words that have moved people across generations and continents toward greater surrender, service, and remembrance of God.
Haidakhan Babaji appeared in the Kumaon foothills of northern India in 1970 and left his body in 1984. In those fourteen years he taught through presence as much as through words, through the fire ceremony, through karma yoga, through the simple discipline of daily practice. What he said mattered. How he lived mattered more.
At Pohoiki Ashram we hold these teachings as our foundation, a living current that continues to move through all who practice in his lineage.

"This entire world is transitory; only the name of God is eternal. The fact is that the geography and structure of the world are constantly changing. Attaining salvation is the supreme achievement for a human being.
You must seek liberation and help liberate others.
Attachment to material objects drives man to cling to life.
As long as you are attached to life and fear death, you will die burdened by the weight of fear.
If, however, you die fearlessly, remembering the name of God, then your soul will leave the body free from fear and attachment. If you are reborn, the soul will still be free from fear. If you die in unity, you will be free from rebirth, unless you desire it."
“This world is transitory, the true reality is the name of God.”
“I want to see liberated people who have become addicted to the illusions of the material world.”
“Only he who surrenders completely to the will of God will be saved.”
“Learn not to make plans or fantasize about the future. Forget the past and old habits. Learn to concentrate your mind solely on the divine.”
“Why do you cling with your mind to what is transitory in this world? Cling to God.”
“Let yourselves be freed by divine grace.”
“The path to God-realization is extremely difficult. Few can walk it. It is as difficult as walking on a razor's edge.
The Guru's grace is everything. No knowledge is possible without the Guru's grace.”
“Connect yourself to God. Be courageous and always move forward. There will be many mountains to overcome, but don't stop until you reach your goal. Be strong and never lose heart.”

"I AM A MIRROR IN WHICH YOU CAN SEE YOURSELF"
"One day my body is destined to dry up, so don't bother rubbing too much oil on it. This body is here only to serve the people."
“I am no one and nothing, I am a mirror in which you can see yourselves. I am in every breath you take. I live in each of your hearts.”
"All living beings, animals, flowers, plants, and stones have been given a form by God, and this body too has been given a form by God to perform a duty in the world. So even my own body has come only to perform the duty of serving all humanity and all living beings."
"But when human beings come into the world, they forget their duty and fall into attachment to Maya and the concepts of 'I' and 'mine,' thus forgetting God.
I am like fire; don't stand too far away or you won't get warm, but don't come too close, or you risk getting burned. Learn the right distance."

My name is Maha Prabhuji (Great Lord).
“I am Bhole Baba ,” the simple father.”
“ Babaji means: serve all.”
“Those who see the great God in the sun, moon, stars, earth, air, fire, and water, and who always meditate on Him alone, achieve success in life and are true devotees.
One perfect being is enough to change the world. Rama, Krishna, Christ— they were not many, they were only one… A single spark of light is enough to illuminate the universe.”
“Do not be afraid of the limitations of time, for I will come to you and teach you even in your dreams.
“God is everywhere, in everything, in the water, in the sky… He is within you.”
“I am nothing and no one. I am a mirror in which you can see yourselves.”
“I am harmony.”
“I am always with you.”
Courage, non-violence
"You are all soldiers of Herakhan.
Perform your duty with faith and devotion.
To be truly of service, you must remove jealousy and hatred from your hearts.
You must all ascend the mountain of victory."
"I want to eradicate the idea of nonviolence that prevails in the world.
It causes apathy and laziness.
This nonviolence has chilled the blood of men, turning it to water.
This attitude of nonviolence produces the absence of discrimination between good and evil.
Everyone should live with boldness and courage."
"A man without courage is as good as dead. A life without courage is no life.
Many atrocities are being committed in the world today.
Humans are treated like animals.
No one has the courage to rebel against these atrocities;
instead, everyone should be courageous and resist."
“Becoming strong does not mean becoming hard and heartless.
Becoming strong means growing beyond pleasure and pain, heat and cold.”
“There is no place for fear; people must work in the world without fear…
When a man is fearless, no one can defeat him in battle, whether in material or spiritual life.”
“You must all be vigilant 24 hours a day. Be soldiers of God and act with courage and discipline.”
“When the time comes, you will have to walk through fire and water.”
“This is no time to sleep. Wake up your families, your friends, and your countries! Wake up! All men and women in this world must live and be vigilant, not lazy as death.”
“Do not imitate. Be strong. Stand erect.
Do not lean on the crutches of others.
Think for yourself.
Be yourself.”
